GOLF OUTING

The 2012 Golf Outing was on May 3rd at MacDill Air Force Base.

"The 2012 Golf Outing was very enjoyable. The game was held along the waterfront southern course at MacDill.  It was a “scramble” format, with 5 teams starting out in a shotgun format from holes #1 – 4.  It was a little hot outside, but a gorgeous day without any real threat of rain.  The course was in very good shape, given the lack of rain we’ve had so far this year.

At first there was a tie for 1st place between Team #1 and Team #3, but the Golf Pro scoring the tournament for us knew the official rules for breaking a tie in tournament play.  So Team #4 won first place, with the lowest score of 58 – without any adjustment for handicap, that was their actual score, very impressive.

Team #4 also had Brian Keenan win BOTH the longest drive contest and the closest to the pin contest – obviously the best golfer of the group.

Team # 3 came in second, but was also the SLOWEST team of the day.  Apparently another group who played very badly and very slow skipped around them, and then proceeded to slow them down by over a half-hour. 

Team #5 came in third, with minimal cheating – I swear!

Team #2 was awarded one sleeve of golf balls each, just because Clayton looked like he needed a hug, and his team was enjoying themselves. 

Our Sponsor, Gibbs Wilson, remarked over and over again what a good day it was, fun outing, really enjoyable event."

Past Golf Outings

The Spring 2011 Golf Outing was held on Thursday, April 14 at Feather Sound Country Club at 1:30pm, immediately following the Regular Monthly Meeting, which was a luncheon at Feather Sound.  The players picked up their own tab for greens fees, carts, drinks, snacks, hors d'oeuvres and a "bragging rights reception" immediately following.   















In good form:  Miles Dierks, Vice Chair of "Relationships" at the Spring 2010 Golf Outing:  Seven foursomes played on a beautiful Friday morning, April 2, at Old Memorial Golf Course, walking the compete course with caddies (no carts).  






Flashback:  Spring 2009 Golf Outing - Five foursomes played in the Golf Outing on Friday, April 24th, starting at 11:30AM at Emerald Greens Golf Resort and Country Club in Carrollwood.
